Camping in De Soto National Forest
The purpose of this map is to highlight areas that I have identified within De Soto National Forest as ideal camping sites. The ideal camping site is 150m from a lake or 500m from a river while also being within 300m from a road. All conservation zones were also excluded from the ideal camping site areas.
Finding the ideal camping spot also requires the right amount of shade, a level surface, and an easy path. Thus the largest areas are depicted in yellow, this is most likely the ideal area as you have plenty of area to search for these criteria as it is over 200 hectares. The orange zones depict 50.1 to 200 hectares, while this is still a large area you would still more than likely have a more difficult time finding the ideal camping spot. The purple zones give you the smallest ideal camping zones, being less than or equal to 50 hectares. One benefit of the smallest zones would be the likelihood of having the greatest amount of privacy.
