Geocoding: Manatee County

This week consisted of creating an excel file of all schools within Manatee County while also creating a geocoder using Census street data. During the creation process of the geocoder, it ran into 7 errors. This was due to a few reasons, some of them being spelling not matching up, mailing addresses listed in lieu of physical addresses, and being outside of Manatee County. The geocoding process gives you an option to manually match the point to the location, which was done for all 7 that could not be located. The link to the map is posted below.

A map like this could be used for multiple reasons. One would be looking for a home near multiple schools. It would be an ideal situation to live close to an Elementary, Middle, and High School if you are looking for a long term home while also having children. Another reason would be to avoid school zones on your way to a job. A buffer could be created using a typical school zone radius easily. An additional reason would be to locate where a school needed to be potentially built. As you can see from the map, there are not many schools East of I75. You could easily load census data with alternate age groups showing the areas that would most benefit from a new school.
