Land Use and Land Cover Assessment


 I used a provided aerial image to classify Land Use and Land Cover using remote sensing. In the map above, you can see the different areas that were delineated. I used various characteristics to make judgements. One example is the residential areas, where I used characteristics such as size of parcels, size of driveways, and the amount of vehicles. The water classifications were easier to decipher, but more difficult to draw. I then used a tool to create random points that I could compare to Google Maps. This allowed me to create a ground truthing accuracy assessment, which results in 86.7% accuracy.
