South Florida Google Earth Tour

In this lab, we explored the integration of GIS data into Google Earth, focusing on creating interactive maps and looking at Southern Florida's population density and key cities. The objective was to convert ArcGIS maps into KML formats and utilize these to craft a detailed, layered dot density map and a recorded tour highlighting major urban centers like Miami and Tampa.

The process involved converting data from a dot density shapefile to a KML for use in Google Earth, and then organizing these layers. This included adding a legend and arranging the visibility of layers to ensure that population data stood out distinctly against geographic and hydrographic layers. For the tour, placemarks guided the virtual journey through major cities and regions.
